Jerry LaValley started his career in the insurance business in 1976 in the property/casualty field with a small family-owned agency. In 1981, Jerry became active in the life and health insurance business and became the life and benefit specialist for the agency as well as continuing work in the property/casualty area. He joined The Ohio National Life Insurance Company as a career agent on May 1, 1984 through Swanson and Associates in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1991, Jerry sold the property casualty agency, retaining his life/health clients and joined Swanson and Associates full-time. Jerry was given responsibility for recruiting and training new associates for Swanson and Associates, as well as servicing his own clients. Jerry remained in that position until December 2004 when he became General Agent of LifePoint Financial Advisors. Jerry went back into personal production in February 2010, focusing on developing a very specific clientele of median to high net worth individuals. Jerry formed TKM Advisory Services in September 2013 and is now affiliated with Great Lakes Financial Insurance Agency in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jerry is a life and qualifying member of Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), has 12 Council of Honor qualifications with Ohio National and, in 2013, ranked 9th in Ohio National in total production.

Jerry received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in September 1983, his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in February 1992 and his Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in October 1996. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He was also Past President of the Western Michigan Chapter of the General Agents Management Association (GAMA) (1994-1995) and Past President of the Western Michigan Chapter of the Society of Financial Professionals (SFSP) (2003-2004). Jerry holds a Life, Accident and Health Insurance license in Michigan and maintains Series 6, Series 22 and Series 65 securities licenses in Michigan.
